Self-study is a comprehensive and accurate evaluation process for all the activities of for academic programs, administrative affairs and support services to improve performance and prepare improvement plans by knowing the strengths and weaknesses and providing a comprehensive, clear and accurate report on the institution to help the external review team verify that the required standards are met.
The success of self-study depends on the senior leadership’s awareness of the importance of evaluation and the commitment to support it. Inclusiveness, planning, objectivity and the participation of all concerned in preparing this self-study are prerequisites for its success.
The procedures for self-study include six steps, which are in order: forming the leadership team, study planning, forming training team, agreeing on the quality of information and data required and methods for gathering it, processing and analyzing information and extracting suggestions. And finally, preparing report for the self-evaluation study.
Self-study is extremely important to achieve the greatest job satisfaction by raising the morale of the employees of the institution as well as raising the level of professional performance by following up on professional developments. The participation of all employees in assuming responsibility by building a culture of outstanding performance in the organization – owning a collective leadership that invests in individuals and adopts the principle of participation in decision-making.
